Welcome to CanineKinetics

Hello and thank you for visiting CanineKinetics website.

CanineKinetics combines a lifetime of experience, study, and professional qualifications to support dogs in achieving improved physical and emotional well-being through Kinetic Therapy & Learning techniques.

I have worked professionally with dogs for over forty years — initially as a veterinary nurse, then as a trainer and behaviourist, and for the last fifteen years as a rehabilitation and fitness practitioner.

Over the years I recognised that many of the dogs presenting with behavioural challenges were also experiencing underlying physical discomfort. This inspired me to further my studies and gain additional qualifications in physical rehabilitation, with the aim of helping dogs live more comfortable, confident, and fulfilled lives.

Through this work, I discovered that therapeutic movement could offer far more than physical rehabilitation alone. Purposeful movement and nervous system-focused exercises can have a profound effect on emotional wellbeing, confidence, learning, and behaviour, providing a highly effective and compassionate alternative to more traditional training and behaviour approaches.

This understanding became the foundation of CanineKinetics and the development of my Kinetic techniques — an integrated methodology that uses movement to support the physical, emotional, and cognitive wellbeing of dogs.

My specialised approach combines therapeutic movement exercises, myotherapy, and nervous system engagement to improve mobility, comfort, confidence, body awareness, and overall quality of life.

Based on a peaceful farm setting with its own safe parking area, CanineKinetics offers a quieter, more natural alternative to busy clinical environments. Our calm, enriching consulting space promotes gentle movement, nervous system regulation, and positive interaction to help dogs feel secure both physically and emotionally. The aim is to create an experience that feels very different from traditional veterinary or physiotherapy settings — encouraging trust, confidence, and balanced, healthy movement in a way that works with the individual dog.

I am proud to be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse, Certified Canine Mobility Therapist, and member of several professional organisations including the International Association of Animal Therapists, the Institute of Registered Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists (MT), and the International Institute for Canine Ethics.

Continual professional development remains an important part of my work, with particular interests in neurophysiology and neuropsychology, and how these are connected through the proprioceptive and myofascial systems. I am passionate about using this knowledge to support both the emotional and physical well-being of dogs.

I look forward to meeting you and your dog soon

Helen
