kinetic REHABILITATION
Kinetic Rehabilitation supports dogs whose movement has been affected by injury, surgery, illness, musculoskeletal conditions, neurological dysfunction, osteoarthritis, or any condition that compromises comfort, movement or quality of life.
Pain, discomfort, and compensatory changes may also affect confidence, behaviour and emotional wellbeing. By recognising the close relationship between the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, Kinetic Rehabilitation is able to support the whole dog.
Each appointment is individually tailored to your dog’s needs. Through carefully and appropriately selected therapeutic exercises, proprioceptive activities, sensory engagement, massage and myofascial techniques, the focus is to reduce pain, improve comfort, restore and maintain functional movement, optimise mobility and balance, and support each dog in achieving their best possible quality of life.
Therapeutic exercises are prescribed specifically for each dog and demonstrated during appointments so they can be continued safely at home. Every activity is introduced gradually using kind, reward-based coaching techniques, always working within each dog’s confidence, consent and comfort levels.
Emotional wellbeing is an important part of rehabilitation. Activities are designed not only to support physical recovery, but also to encourage confidence, body awareness, engagement and positive emotional experiences, helping dogs become active participants in their own rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation extends beyond the treatment session. Practical guidance on home management, lifestyle and environmental adaptations forms an important part of your dog’s rehabilitation plan, helping to support comfort, confidence and functional ability in everyday life.
Initial Consultation
Approximately 60 minutes
The first appointment includes a comprehensive assessment of your dog’s movement, posture, musculoskeletal and myofascial health, comfort and emotional wellbeing. Together, we will discuss your dog’s individual needs and develop a personalised rehabilitation plan, working alongside your veterinary surgeon where appropriate.
Follow-up appointments are approximately 40 minutes and are tailored to your dog’s progress, adapting as their needs change throughout rehabilitation.
Kinetic Rehabilitation can also be suitable for dogs who may be anxious about handling. Many movement activities can be introduced without direct physical contact, allowing dogs to learn through positive, achievable experiences and at a pace that respects their confidence and comfort.
Kinetic Rehabilitation complements veterinary diagnosis and treatment and should always be considered as part of a collaborative approach to supporting your dog’s health and wellbeing.sen

In order to comply with the ‘veterinary surgeons act 1966’ your dog must have veterinary consent for treatment at CanineKinetics. Prior to the assessment appointment you will be given a referral/consent form for your vet to complete.
NB: Treatment at CanineKinetics is not an alternative to veterinary care and medication. We work alongside the dog’s referring vet as an integrated therapy to achieve the greatest benefit for your dog.
