Helping dogs to age with comfort, confidence and dignity

Ageing is a natural part of life, and every dog experiences it differently. As dogs mature, changes in strength, balance, flexibility, sensory awareness and confidence can influence how they move, adapt and participate in everyday life.

Senior Support provides personalised movement-based support to help older dogs maintain comfort, functional mobility, body awareness and independence. Through carefully selected movement activities, sensory experiences and supportive techniques, we aim to help dogs adapt to changes, maintain confidence and continue enjoying the activities that matter to them.

Every senior dog has their own unique history, abilities and needs. Sessions are individually tailored to each dog, considering their physical comfort, movement patterns, confidence levels and lifestyle, allowing support to evolve as they age.

By encouraging appropriate movement, proprioception, balance and body awareness, Senior Support helps dogs maintain the skills that contribute to quality of life. The focus is not on stopping the ageing process, but on supporting each dog to move comfortably, function effectively and feel confident within their changing body.

Senior dogs continue to learn, explore and enjoy life. With thoughtful support, we can help them maintain independence, strengthen the relationship they share with their owners and make the most of every stage of their journey.

Supporting an older dog is about understanding their individual needs as they change over time. As part of Senior Support, we consider changes in movement, comfort, confidence and everyday function, and can help recognise when additional veterinary input may be beneficial. Working alongside your veterinary team ensures your dog receives the right support as they continue to age.

Senior Support Introduction and Assessment

Approximately 60 minutes

A gentle introduction to Senior Support, beginning with an individual assessment of your dog’s movement, comfort, confidence and functional mobility. Together, we will explore how movement-based support can be tailored to your dog’s needs, helping you understand how best to support them as they age.

Sessions may include therapeutic movement, proprioceptive activities, sensory experiences and practical guidance that can be continued at home.

Senior Support Programme (4 × 45 minutes)

A series of four personalised sessions designed to support your senior dog’s comfort, functional mobility, confidence and quality of life. Each session is tailored to your dog’s individual needs, helping to maintain movement skills, body awareness, balance and independence through appropriate movement activities, sensory experiences and supportive techniques.

Continue your journey: Many senior dogs benefit from ongoing support as their needs and abilities change over time. Additional sessions or 4-session programmes can be booked as required, allowing us to adapt activities and provide continued support throughout your dog’s ageing journey.

Please note: Dogs with existing injuries, orthopaedic conditions or rehabilitation requirements may be more appropriately supported through a Movement Rehabilitation Therapy appointment. Veterinary consent may be required before treatment begins.
